				나는 하나의 이미지를 사각 블록 판 위에 새긴다. 이렇게 새겨진 이미지는 그 자체로 완결된 형상이 되기도 하지만, 때에 따라 배열을 달리한 여러 블록들로 인해 다른 이미지로 변화되기도 한다. 그 이미지들은 서로 연결되기도 하고, 연결되지 않기도 한다. 오히려 서로 연결되지 않을 때 더 흥미로운 형상으로 다가오기도 한다. 그것들은 얼마든지 새로운 이미지로 확장시켜나갈 수 있고 더 많은 이야기를 담아 낼 수 있다.



주로 자연에서 볼 수 있는 것들로 이루어진 이미지들은 생명의 근원, 존재의 근원을 상징적으로 표현한다. 이러한 이미지들은 서로 유기적으로 연결되어 부분과 전체와의 조화를 시도한다. 이런 면에서 내 작업은 ‘Relation(관계)’이라는 단어와 연계되어 생각할 수 있다. 



내 작업에 주로 사용되는 ‘레진(100% solids thermoplastic resin)’은 원래 각각의 독립된 개체를 이어주는 역할을 하는 접착 재료다. 서로 연결함으로 인해 개체들 상호간에 유기적인 relation(관계)이 형성된다는 점에서 resin이라는 재료는 나의 작업과 맥을 같이 한다. 내가 사용하는 resin은 반투명으로, 쌓이는 정도에 따라 바탕색이 다양하게 변화되어 보인다. 그것은 인공조명이나 자연채광의 변화에 따라 전혀 다른 느낌으로 다가오기도 한다. 무수한 선들의 집적인 레진 작업은 많은 시간과 인내심을 요한다. 그렇기 때문에 더욱 애착이 가는지도 모르겠다.                                                                                                                                        



I represent one single image on several square boards. This image itself appears completed but can become different images when the arrangement of the square boards is altered. The images are connected to one another or disconnected. More intriguing shapes are created when they are disconnected. They may create new images and convey more narratives. My images from nature are symbolic representations of the source of life and existence. These images organically associated with one another present a harmony between part and whole. In this respect, my work can be considered connected with the term "relation."



The resin (100% solid thermoplastic resin) I use in my work was originally adhesives joining independent parts together. The material of resin is in the same context with my work in that each part is in an organic relation, put together with one another. The resin I use is translucent and the ground color varies depending on its layer. It feels completely different in accordance with artificial or natural lighting. I refer to this as "silver wave. My resin work integrates countless lines and demands a lot of time and patience. I thus feel more attached to this work.
